Fort Jesse has been a favorite of mine and my friends for a couple years now. Today was one of those friends' last visit from out of state since she is moving back towards the east coast. The staff wouldn't let her leave without a celebratory dessert and congratulations that took us both very much by surprise. We have enjoyed our visits here (putting it mildly), but the atmosphere and the staff really cemented our stance that Fort Jesse Cafe is the best spot in town... not only for their delicious food and coffee, but also to warm our souls thanks to their kindness and considerate nature towards their customers. I can't praise this establishment and their staff enough. Thank you!!

The best breakfast place in town. I've had five or six different things there and they've all been outstanding. The Cajun skillet is a particular favorite. Staff are great and very friendly. There can be a pretty long wait, especially on weekends, and there's not a lot of waiting space inside. You can have coffee while you wait but if it's cold or there's inclement weather you may be waiting in your car. Still worth it for the food. They don't take reservations.

Nothing is worth a 2 hour wait. Have been wanting to try their breakfast as I’ve had their lunch and it’s great. Every time I go, I’m told it’s a 2 hour wait. Not a chance. I can go down the road to Carmella’s to Shannon and be in and out in less time. I’d recommend reservations or looking in to a bigger space. Losing a lot of customers because of wait times

Staff was friendly and quick. The prices were good as well. Can't wait to return!

Breakfast here was delicious. Had a wait because they were busy, but you can help yourself to coffee while you wait and they'll just add it to your meal later. That was a great bonus!

Line to get in was short this day, but still a wait. Staff is very friendly and ready to attend you. Menu is limited but interesting, and I can highly recommend the Eggs Benedict. Wide open dining area. Lots of bright light and a convivial atmosphere. Conversation is easy to hold with an ongoing volume of sound in the room at the same time. A number of unique aspects include the serve yourself coffee station, the pile of comic books, the bags game outside, and benches... All for those in line to be seated. Most tables are for four, and many only had two at them, which makes me wonder if a communal table might not be a good idea as an option here. The parking lot is not as large as it could be for the crowds that flock to this cafe, and large vehicles would be hard pressed to maneuver the lot when full. Probably one of the best breakfast spots in the twin cities, but the lines and parking definitely put me off frequent return visits. Although the turkey sausage option is definite plus for us too.
